The message notification plugin sounds like it'd be a better fit for this...

That could be possible, but there is absolutely no queuing code in
guifications. Once it hits the hard limit of "Max Visible Guifications"
(advanced tab in preferences (i think)), it destroys the oldest one to
show the newest one.

So in other words, if you hit more than that max, you're going to miss
notifications as well. This could be hacked around by cranking the max
number, but then the windows will be displayed off the screen and only
come into the visible range when you start removing old ones.

Also, there is no way to change the display time for a single
notification type. So unless you only allow the "message received"
notification, you'll have to manual destroy the other notifications,
unless you wait until they time out.

As you may or may not know, guifications 2.x is no longer being actively
developed. We're in, what we like to call maintenance mode. We keep it
working, but aren't adding features.

Seeing as the only proper way to achieve what you're looking for is to
do redesign the way in which notifications are displayed, it isn't
likely to happen as I'd rather spent my time on other projects,
including the successor to guifications 2.x.

I highly suggest you look at the "message notification" plugin. It can
change the title of the conversation window (usually prepend text) to
notify you that there are new messages. This means all you have to do
is look at your taskbar to know that you have new messages.
