New description:

 On both my home and work PCs -- Win2k SP4, latest
 gaim/GTK+/Guifications, Wimp GTK+ theme -- the text in
 the Mini theme comes out stupidly small. The theme
 settings say 12 pt text but I get smugdy writing at
 about 8 pt that is a strain to read.

 Setting each event to 13 pt text one at a time does
 give me 12 pt in each, but that's tedious. I'd like to
 see a global settings entry in the theme editor -- to
 set defaults that apply via inheritance to all the
 individual event settings. I checked the Mini theme XML
 and there's no mention of the 12 pt font size in any,
 so does that mean the size is never set at all (despite
 the theme editor suggesting they're set at 12 pt), and
 that it's defaulting to a bad size? Which means there's
 room for that global override?

 But that aside, is there a .gtkrc setting to make the
 font in the themes come out the right size? (Seeing as
 I take it that this is a GTK+ bug). I know you can
 configure Guifications by .gtkrc but I've tried yet
