 It happens consistently for me. How can I assist you in reproducing it?

 While joined to a room on freenode, I went to the account manager,
 unchecked the Enabled box next to my freenode account, waited a few
 seconds, then checked it. A few seconds later I received an IM from
 NickServ:

 NickServ: (notice) This nickname is owned by someone else
 NickServ: (notice) If this is your nickname, type /msg NickServ IDENTIFY
 <password>
 NickServ: (notice) Password accepted - you are now recognized

 The plugin manager shows IRC Helper, IRC More, and Irssi Features all
 enabled. (All version 2.2.0 on Pidgin 2.3.1.)
