Comment:

 uhh-huh. Sim-on might be right. I have no idea what happened with this.
 Downgrading to 2.4.2 without the dll didn't fix the issue completely. In
 fact, with 2.4.3, guifications 2.16 and "always show system tray icon", it
 seems to be working. I needed to start Pidgin with that setting, and if I
 change the setting to "only on new messages", it seems to break,
 guifications or no. I think I'm gonna close this as invalid for now.
